O-K Brunch Raised Over 10KThe OK Clean Water Project held its annual brunch on Sunday, October 23rd at the Centurion Conference and Event Center. A very enthusiastic crowd of approximately one hundred forty-five people were in attendance and $10,075 was raised. The event included a delicious brunch, silent auction and raffle with great bargains of hockey tickets, quilted hangings, pottery and other fabulous items. The room was beautifully decorated and the food presentation was inviting
This year we were honoured to have as our guest speaker Adam Bouland, a student at MIT in Boston who worked with Engineers Without Borders in Cameroon. Adam gave a very interesting and informative presentation on the water project with specific details to the structural and planning processes involved. His excellent powerpoint accompanied the talk and he clarified some questions raised by the audience with clear and meaningful responses. It was evident from Adam’s presentation that he has knowledge of the process involved, the respect for the hard work and commitment of the villagers, awareness of the intense manual labour required to complete and maintain such a project.
Anne Lalonde and Hilder Langwa coemceed the event and the programme moved smoothly amid food, raffles, ticket sales, silent auction bids and thank yous to the donors. The event concluded with a thank you to all who were in attendance, the volunteers and the committee who organized the event as well as the Centurion Conference and Event Center staff for the well organized room and the excellent food preparation.
We are all most grateful for this most successful brunch and to the many donors. We look forward to hosting another brunch in 2012. Keep in touch with upcoming events by visiting our website at okcleanwaterproject.org.
