Successful Brunch in 2012 Raised $12,147
The OK Clean Water Project Committee is thrilled to announce the proceeds from our annual Brunch held on October 21, 2012 at the Centurion Conference and Event Center. The event which included a raffle, silent auction, crafts and donations from very generous donors totalled an amazing $12,147. The enthusiastic participants also shared in a delicious brunch.
This year our speaker was one of our Cameroonian committee members, Hilder Langwa, who shared her family’s struggles finding and carrying clean water as she grew up in Cameroon. Hilder strongly believes that Water Is Life! and emphasized the changes that clean water has brought to the people of Kumbo and its surroundings. She also expressed the importance of sustainability as the villagers work hard to maintain the water in their communities.
Bernie O’Neill and Gladys Vusi shared the emceeing of the event and kept the event running smoothly amid the raffles, auction and brunch. Cathy Molloy, our founder in Cameroon, shared good wishes from herself and all those in Cameroon who are so grateful for the gift of clean water.
Again this year 2012, we are most grateful to all those in attendance and our donors for making this Brunch such a successful event. We also thank the University of Ottawa students Michelle, Emily, Warren and Mike who helped to organize the event. Our thanks also goes to Jessie who helped with the setup and also monitored the crafts table.
Next year in 2013, we will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary and we look forward to seeing you all out again with your family and friends. Keep abreast of our events posted on our website at okcleanwaterproject.org
