Successful Brunch in 2013 Raised $6,808
On Sunday, October 20th 2013 the OK Clean water Project celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a joy-filled gathering of 125 supporters at the Centurion Conference and Event Centre.
The celebration was highlighted with visitors from Cameroon- Sr. Catherine Molloy, CND, coordinator of OK water, Edwin Visi, consultant of the OK project and Edwin’s wife, Doris. Their presentation with photos highlighting the progress of the thirty-four villages over the ten years focused not only on the commitment of the villagers in overseeing the installation of each village water system but also the importance of education for sustainability. Edwin Visi’s role as consultant emphasized the importance of training water management committees in each village to ensure the ongoing availability of water with proper maintenance in place.
All in attendance included many past supporters, as well as new participants who enjoyed the delicious food, the excellent presentation by Sr. Catherine and Edwin and the welcoming spirit of the committee and volunteers . We were most grateful to our University of Ottawa volunteers Michelle, Declan, Warren, and Pavlos as well as to Alison who represented the high school students.. A silent auction, raffle and craft table brought support from those present as well. The gathering of 125 enjoyed the entertainment provided by the Cameroonian dancers (Koko, Emilia, Obi and Jenny) before the food presentation and at the end of the celebration.
We also thank the staff of the Centurion Conference and Event Centre for the organization, food preparation and welcoming spirit. Thank you to all in attendance and to all who supported this 10th Anniversary event. The day’s proceeds which included a delicious breakfast-lunch brunch brought about a profit of $6,808.
