OK Clean Water Brunch 2015
Another successful Brunch was held at the Centurion Conference and Event Centre on Sunday, October 25, 2015 with approximately 100 supporters in attendance..
Nina Glinski, CND, spoke compassionately about her three month visit to Cameroon and the welcome that she received from the people. She was moved by the dedication of many who work so diligently to bring clean water to their villages. Nina also praised the work of Cathy Molloy, CND, the coordinator and that of Edwin Visi, the consultant who trains the villagers to ensure the water projects are maintained. Nina’s presentation included photos of the work in progress and the people.
Greetings from Cathy Molloy, CND,and Edwin Visi included an update on the progress made in forming an Association recognized by the Cameroonian government. This is a follow-up to the discussion and planning of the OK Advisory Committee and a Transition Subcommittee in Kumbo. Five General Assemblies have been planned one for each geographic area to involve the villagers in all aspects of village life. Patrick McIntyre, from the University of Glasgow, in Scotland, a volunteer from Engineers Without Borders has committed a volunteer year to assist in this process with follow-up visits to the villages to assess their readiness to commit to forming an Association and their current needs. Cathy’s words included those of many Cameroonians who sing, “Water is Life! Together We are One!”
All in attendance at the Brunch included many past supporters, as well as new participants. All enjoyed the delicious food, the excellent presentation by Nina and the welcoming spirit of the committee and volunteers .We are most grateful to our University of Ottawa volunteers Pavlos and Akram who assisted with much of the event.
The day’s proceeds which included a delicious breakfast-lunch brunch brought about a net revenue of $7,161.51 with 95 guests in attendance .All were most grateful to the staff of the Centurion Conference and Event Centre for the organization, food preparation and presentation. Thank you to all in attendance and to all for your ongoing support.
